Biomedical Membranes & Artificial Organs: Beyond Transplants

The primary barrier to long-term artificial organ success is the interface between blood and synthetic materials. Current membrane applications for lung and kidney support are often limited by adverse immune responses.

The STEM Lab addresses these challenges by fabricating tailored, hemocompatible membranes designed to mimic natural organ function. By focusing on the molecular engineering of membrane surfaces, we develop components for:

  • Artificial Kidneys & Livers

  • Artificial Lungs & Pancreases

By improving blood-material interactions, we aim to provide sustainable medical alternatives that reduce the global reliance on organ transplantation.
